••• Registration •••
If this is a new purchase and not an upgrade purchase, please completely fill out the enclosed registration card so that we may continue to provide you support, notify you of updates and special promotions, and announce new products. Include a daytime phone number, the name of the product (MasterJuggler), and your serial number GZ035047 (found from the Finder by using 'Get Info…' on the MasterJuggler™ system extension icon or by looking in the bottom right corner of the MasterJuggler DA dialog window).
For support we will require that you be registered with us and can verbally provide a verifiable serial number.
••• Upgrading From Older Versions of MasterJuggler •••
Use the MJ Settings Copier utility (described below) to copy all of your MasterJuggler settings from your older MasterJuggler to your new MasterJuggler.
If MasterJuggler set file icons look like generic document icons then you should rebuild your desktop file. Make sure that there are no old copies of MasterJuggler on your hard disk when you rebuild. To rebuild your desktop file, restart your computer and hold down the command and option keys during the startup until a dialog box appears that asks whether you want to rebuild the desktop file.
••• MasterJuggler Compatibility •••
MasterJuggler and Suitcase are not compatible. Do not have both products installed in your System folder at the same time.
Some drawing and illustration applications access PostScript font files directly in order to convert text into graphic objects that can be manipulated just like any other object. Depending upon the application, it may not be able to find PostScript font files that are stored outside of the System Folder, the Extensions folder or the Fonts folder. For these applications you will need to temporarily copy the needed PostScript font file into the System Folder. These applications use a method of accessing the PostScript font files that is different than the method used by the LaserWriter driver and ATM. MasterJuggler does not support methods other than the method used by the LaserWriter driver and ATM.
••• MJ Settings Copier •••
A utility called “MJ Settings Copier” is provided with MasterJuggler. MJ Settings Copier was provided because replacing your old MasterJuggler system extension with a new one can be time consuming. You have to recreate all of your MasterJuggler settings including your Application List items, your Open files list, your HotKeys and more. MJ Settings Copier can copy all of the settings you have from one MasterJuggler system extension to another.
MJ Settings Copier and a document “Using MJ Settings Copier” can be found in the Extras folder on the MasterJuggler disk.
••• MJ File Finder •••
A utility called “MJ File Finder” is provided with MasterJuggler. MJ File Finder was provided because if you ever back up and then restore your hard disk or if you change the locations of your applications, documents and resource files, your MasterJuggler system extension may not be able to find the applications and documents in the MasterJuggler Application list or the resource files in the MasterJuggler Open files list. MJ File Finder will attempt to find the missing files by searching for them on the disk that was last known to contain the files. If the files are not found, MJ File Finder will then search the startup volume and, if necessary, it will search every other disk on the desktop. After finding any missing files, your MasterJuggler system extension will be updated with the new file locations.
MJ File Finder and a document “Using MJ File Finder” can be found in the Extras folder on the MasterJuggler disk.
••• Set File Count Utility •••
By default, a Macintosh running System Software 6 can open a total of 40 files at once. 40 files may seem like a lot but, in addition to those files that you open with MasterJuggler, files are opened by applications and by the Macintosh system software. You may exceed the 40 file limit when opening files, printing, or opening partitions. Included with MasterJuggler is a utility called Set File Count which allows you to increase the number of files that can be opened.
When you exceed the 40 file limit, the Finder indicates that there is not enough memory to work with another disk, applications or MasterJuggler may tell you that too many files are open or you may get an error message with the number -42.
The maximum number of files to allow opened is determined by the disk you start your Macintosh with. You use Set File Count to modify your startup disk and then restart with that disk.
To change the maximum number of files that can be opened, follow these steps:
1) Select the Set File Count icon and choose Open from the File Menu, or just double-click the icon. The Set File Count dialog window appears.
2) Click the Drive button until the name of your startup disk appears above the Drive button.
3) Click the up or down arrows until the number of files you desire to be allowed opened appears to the left of the arrows. The number increments and decrements by 4 with a minimum value of 40 and a maximum value of 348.
4) Click the Set button.
5) Click Quit.
6) Restart the Macintosh with the updated disk.
